FACE BOOK UPDATE
In December last year we started our Sheriff’s Office FB. The responses have been very positive. The public calls and input have been great which has made our FB a great success. Here is an update about the Sheriffs Office FB:
We have cleared 343 warrants, we have 2352 persons following our FB postings, and we average 1300 viewers each week. Thanks for all your help and support KEEP IT UP….
NEW DEPUTIES HIRED AS REPLACEMENTS FOR DEPUTIES WHO RECENTLY RETIRED
The following personnel have been hired and assigned to the Law Enforcement Division to replace deputies who recently retired. Please welcome the following:
Deputy Nick Sysak - Deputy Sysak, grew up in Chardon, and recently relocated back to the area after serving 12 years with the Los Angeles Police Department. Deputy Sysak worked in several divisions, and performed duties ranging from patrol officer to vice detective during his tenure with L.A.P.D. Deputy Sysak graduated from the Cleveland Heights Police Academy and began his law enforcement career with the Geauga Sheriff’s Office – Geauga Lake Post, prior to accepting a position with LAPD. Deputy Sysak will start with us on Monday, August 16th and will be assigned to Sgt. Gallowan’s shift for the start of his FTO training.
Deputy James “Jim” Hudson – Deputy Hudson comes to us after a distinguished career with the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office, retiring with 25 years of service. In addition to his law enforcement career, Deputy Hudson is President of the Ashtabula Area City School Board. Deputy Hudson is a certified D.A.R.E Officer and has 15 years experience teaching D.A.R.E. Deputy Hudson will be assigned to Sgt. Uzarski for the start of his training, and he will be assigned to our D.A.R.E program.
Deputy William “Will” Boehnlein – Deputy Boehnlein graduated from the Lakeland Community College Police Department, and started his career with the Lakeland Community College Police Department prior to accepting a full time position with Chardon Police Department. Deputy Boehnlein has also worked part-time as a Ranger with the Lake Metroparks, and as a police officer with the Jefferson Police Department. Deputy Boehnlein will start with us on Sunday, August 22, 2010 and be assigned to Sgt. Copen’s shift to start his training.
ROTARY RIDE HELD JUNE 27th
Deputies helped the Burton-Middlefield Rotary with their annual Motorcycle ride through Geauga County. The money that is raised helps many local Veterans. The group is able to stay together and have a safe ride going through intersections with the help of the Deputies.
Sheriffs Office Employees Take Part in "Relay For Life"
A “Relay For Life “ was held at Notre Dame School on June 26th. and it was a huge success. Two teams were well represented by Sheriff Office Employess. Both teams raised several thousand dollars for the fight against cancer. Thanks to all of our employees that volunteered there time.

Rick O'Shay participated in the 4th of July Parade in Chesterland. He made his first public appearence with Midge and the Sheriff Dan McClelland.
